Thank you to all our neighbors and community members who attended the Kenwood Ranch Winery Community Open House at the Dunbar Elementary School. This event was an opportunity to learn more about the Kenwood Ranch Winery Design submitted in 2021 to the County of Sonoma for Design Review Approval. The Kenwood Ranch Winery was approved as part of the 2004 Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approval of the Use Permit for a 50-room Inn, Spa, Restaurant and Winery at Kenwood Ranch. Those land use approvals included an approved Environmental Impact Report.
If you were unable to attend the Community Open House or want to learn more about the Kenwood Ranch Winery Design, you can view the entire presentation here. The video contains all speakers as well as the PowerPoint presentations which accompanied the speakers.
At the conclusion of the Community Open House, several community members provided questions or subjects they desired more details on about the project. View the questions and answers from the Community Open House here.
The Kenwood Ranch Inn, Spa and Restaurant are now under construction.
Grading and excavation for this part of the project has been ongoing since the grading permit was issued in August 2021. The Building Permit (#BLD21-5513) was issued for the Inn's "Main House" in August 2022. Foundation work for this structure is currently under construction.
Glass Fire Damaged Timber Harvest and Fire Hardening measures continue onsite. Timber Harvest of fire damaged trees is expected to be completed in February 2023. Reforestation will be a multi-year process which does not require permitting.
We anticipate posting construction updates on our website home page as construction milestones are met.
The Kenwood Ranch is located along scenic Highway 12 in Sonoma Valley. Turning off Highway 12 and onto Campagna Lane, The Kenwood Ranch rises from the oak groves and grasslands up into the mountainous areas towards Mount Hood and Sugarloaf Ridge in Sonoma County.
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved The Kenwood Ranch in 2004. The Kenwood Ranch now has vested rights and entitlements for a 50-room inn, 11 residential lots and a 10,000-case winery. The diagram below shows how the location of the building envelope was selected in a deliberate effort to minimize development impacts and preserve the undisturbed nature of the ranch thereby enhancing the natural beauty of the Sonoma Valley experience.
The ranch strives to create an ecologically sound and sustainable development in harmony with the natural beauty and openness of the land. The property has two Oak Preserves, a Grassland Preserve, Greywood Creek Riparian Preserve, Brodiaea & Seasonal Wetlands Preserve and adjoins the Ceanothus Preserve. Our commitment is to continue to foster and manage the land while enhancing and maintaining these preserves for generations to enjoy.
Construction is expected to begin in August 2021 starting with grading to prepare the inn and spa site. Grading activities will complement the ongoing fire recovery efforts from the October 2020 Glass Fire which heavily impacted the ranch.
